For the heart and the mind

This year we went to Cairo to stand with Palestinian families who fled Gaza. We handed out aid, spent days with orphans and listened to people who had lost everything. In December we are going back, on several dates, and we would love you to come with us.

What you’ll be doing

  1. Hand out aid with your own hands

    Pack the parcels in the store room, then hand them to Palestinian families displaced from Gaza yourself. You see exactly whose life it reaches.

  2. Spend your days with the orphans

    Football in the park, a day out, meals together.

  3. Sit with the families and hear their stories

    Every family has a story about the home they left. You will sit with them, listen, and carry it home with you.

  4. Get on the pitch at the academy

    Visit the Ground Roots Academy, the football programme that started after our last deployment, and join the children at training.

One trip started an academy

On our spring deployment we played football in the park with the orphans. When we came home, we decided it shouldn’t stop there. With Ground Roots and We Are Bow, we started a football academy for Palestinian children in Cairo. On deployment, you’ll get on the pitch with them.

When is the deployment?

The second half of December 2026, in Cairo. There will be several dates to choose from; register your interest and we will send them to you as soon as they are fixed.

What will I actually be doing?

Packing and handing out aid to Palestinian families displaced from Gaza, spending days with the orphans we support, sitting with families and hearing their stories, and visiting the Ground Roots Academy to join the children at training.

How much do I need to raise?

The target is around £5,000. We set you up with your own fundraising page and help you get there, and we talk it through with you when we call.

Who organises it?

As-Subah Outreach, with our partners Ground Roots and We Are Bow. The football academy for Palestinian children in Cairo started after one of our deployments.
